Prowling Predators...By Land and By Air

This morning has been quite distracting.  My cats kept running to windowsills, from one side of the house to the other.  I finally joined them with binocs and camera in hand.  I wasn't able to capture the action, only the culprit...a solid, black cat with a white bib and socks, trying to take on two turkeys!  He had them on the run   but he finally got tired and left.
Next up was this Sharp-shinned hawk, I believe...it could have been Cooper's, but I think it was smaller.  I ran to an upstairs window that doesn't have a screen so my shots wouldn't be too terrible.

Canada Geese on the Swamp

I haven't seen any nesting this year.  I did manage to check on the swamp about a week ago and was surprised and a bit unnerved to find NINE geese just off my viewing log....maybe 20 yards, if that!  There was a bit of posturing and quite a bit of honking as the ring leader of the nine kept chasing off a pair that swam by too closely.

A Dusting

Out my office window yesterday morning, just beyond the bird feeder, I spotted a turkey taking advantage of a chipmunk hole and our rainfall deficit.  A great way to start the morning!

Blue

After several days of mostly gray skies and responsibility, it was a beautiful morning to head to the swamp and check on spring arrivals and activity.  The tree swallows were out in abundance and a few actually landed where I could see them!  The blue was just striking and the blue sky as well.
